Dermapen Microneedling

What is Dermapen Microneedling?

Dermapen is the latest innovation in skin needling and collagen induction therapy and is quickly becoming the optimal choice in skin rejuvenation due to its low risk and minimal downtime. The Dermapen has become the new industry standard for skin needling, providing excellent results. This revolutionary device is simple, yet powerful with many distinct advantages over dermal rollers, taking skin needling treatment to new heights. Dermapen is one of the most advanced skin rejuvenation therapies available today.

How does it work?

Using a precise needling technique the safe and sterile Dermapen creates “micro injuries” in the affected areas which trigger the formation of new collagen and elastin, resulting in plumper, smoother skin. It also works wonders on textured skin, acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The Dermapen also has the advantage of being able to effectively treat hard to reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose and lips). Due to this vertical feature, the Dermapen is great for treating atrophic and surgical scars because of its ability to effectively penetrate and break down scar tissue. You can expect smoother skin that looks refreshed, restored and youthful. The treatment is performed using a rich dose of hyaluronic acid in combination with human derived growth factors that deeply penetrate into the skin’s dermal layer, further supporting collagen and elastin production.

Most people will need a series of 3-6 treatments depending on what is being treated and the desired outcome. The treatments are spaced at 4-6 week intervals depending on the intensity of the treatment performed. Cire will help you determine a suitable treatment program.

Is it painful and are there any side effects?

There are two types of Dermapen™ treatments. The first offers a deeper skin penetration and more aggressive Dermapen™ treatment. This type calls for the use of anaesthetic cream to numb the area. The second type involves using Dermapen™ at a shallower depth, eliminating the need to pre-treat the skin with anaesthetic cream. Depending on the patient’s skin and the type of treatment provided, the skin may appear red and irritated for a few days. Specially formulated creams can be used before and after a Dermapen™ treatment to minimize this effect.

Side effects experienced with Dermapen™ will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching and tightness of the skin.

Day 1:  Erythema and redness, severity of which will depend upon the aggressiveness of the performed treatment.

Day 2:  Red or pink hue similar to moderate sunburn may persist. There may be some noticeable swelling on the second day.
